Sea Road of Sicily Cycling
Self Guided Cycling 8 days/7 nights
You’ll start your holiday in the beautiful village on Sicily’s north coastline, San Vito Lo Capo, which lies adjacent to one of Italy’s most pristine coastal nature reserves, the Zingaro Natural Reserve. Then you will begin your cycling tour towards the Salt Pans and Wind mills of Nubia, then again cycling on the coast towards Marsala, passing through Mozia and to Mazara del Vallo with its famous Dancing Satyr. To end with the archaeological site of Selinunte, a wonderful site on the sea and the enchanting village of Sciacca, on the seaside.
1st day: San Vito Lo Capo area
Arrival in San Vito, fishermen’s village on the sea worldwide known for its superb white sand long beach, the Cous Cous. Accommodation and overnight stay
2nd day: San Vito Lo Capo – Trapani 45 km
Today is a very panoramic ride because you will have the chance to see the western coastal of Sicily where Tuna Fish, Saracen Towers and the turquoise sea will enchant you.
3rd day: Trapani– Mozia – Marsala 48 km
Today you will pedal in total relaxation! The panoramic road coasts the sea where the sight of the flow mills on the salinas is amazing. You will then have the chance to visit the little island of Mozia, a little uncontaminated Punic island, where you will find an archaeological site and a private museum. Just a few kilometres to reach Marsala, a beautiful town on the sea where a special liqueur, the “Marsala” is produced for wine tasting.
4th day: Marsala – Mazara del Vallo 30 km
Today you will have the chance to visit the town of Mazara del Vallo, do some wine tasting in one of the many local wineries or just relax. Otherwise, you can cross the sea and visit one of the beautiful Egadi Islands, explore the islands, enjoy the seaside or walk. Then you will reach the town of Mazara del Vallo, a very nice town with a “Kasbah” and known worldwide for the bronze statue called the “Dancing Satyr”.
5th day: Mazara Del Vallo – Selinunte 40 km
This stage is really great. You will cycle along the coast, admiring the amazing views of the Aegadi Islands, and you will cycle inland among vineyards and olive trees. After cycling, you will relax admiring the archaeology in the most wide-open park all over Europe. The archaeological park surrounding Selinunte and its monuments extends about 1.300 meters from east to west.
6th day: Selinunte – Sambuca 45 km
An amazing itinerary from the sea level to Sicily inland, history and traditions with hills and flat terrain, little uphills, and long descends through forests and cultivated grounds till reaching the little town of Sambuca di Sicilia. You cycle along the “Arancio” lake and its beautiful landscape with many famous vineyards. The town of Sambuca was awarded in 2016 “Borgo dei Borghi” for its monuments.
7th day : Sambuca – Sciacca 56km
Today you will cycle to reach the enchanting town of Sciacca, a town on the sea again. It is famous for its ceramics, its thermal baths and its religious festivals, as well as for its large fishing fleet. The ride leads you through San Carlo-Burgio, a cycle path created on the ancient rail track.
8th day: Departure
Breakfast and end of our services.
Departure: Daily Arrival at either Palermo or Trapani airport (except August).
